The Role of Story

I'm a storyteller, like my mother before me. And no matter where life takes me, I find that my love of story is the common thread that weaves the disparate elements of my life together.

Stories from the piles of dog-eared books that lined the shelves of my childhood bedroom, from Betsy-Tacy to {yes, I'll admit it} Flowers in the Attic.

Stories set to music, sung in perfect harmony by R.E.M. or Vampire Weekend or the Wailin' Jennys.

Stories told on-screen, from the whimsical love triangle of The Philadelphia Story to the ups and downs of the exuberant kids of Glee.

Stories of the brands that fill our homes and adorn our bodies, from Anthropologie to Coca-Cola to Apple.

The stories that we share on Facebook or in blogs, living our lives online. The stories that we hold inside, perhaps never to share.

Stories make life interesting. And that's what this blog is all about.
